A Tiny Cube That Floats Your Photos in Mid-Air

Inside this little crystal cube sits a K9L optical prism. It takes whatever is on the screen — a GIF, a pixel-art loop, the time, the weather — and makes it appear to hang in real space rather than sit on a flat panel. The illusion holds from any angle you look. Everything loads over WiFi from your phone; there is no SD card and no USB stick to fuss with.

What It Can Show

Clock: several face styles to choose from
Date: day, weekday, and full date
Weather: pulled live over WiFi
Room temperature: read by a built-in sensor
Your own content: photos, anime loops, pixel art, short GIFs
Auto-cycle: rotates through modes on its own

Setup in Three Steps

Find the cube's hotspot. On first power-up it broadcasts a WiFi network called "GIFTV". Join it from your phone. If the setup page does not open by itself, enter 192.168.4.1 in your browser.
Join your home network. The setup page walks you through connecting to your 2.4GHz WiFi (5GHz networks are not supported). The cube then shows its new address, something like 192.168.x.x.
Load your content. Open that address in a browser to reach the control panel. From there you upload images and GIFs, set the weather, and switch themes.

Good to know: onboard storage is small, so keep files at 240x240px or below. A short 2-3 second clip converted to a GIF at EZGif.com fits nicely.

Small on Purpose

The prism is about the size of a sugar cube, resting on a matte ABS base under a clear acrylic shell. It tucks under a monitor, onto a nightstand, or into a shelf corner where a bigger 3D projector cube would never fit — a desk piece, not a desk hog.

Who It Suits

A good pick for gamers, pixel-art fans, remote workers, and anyone bored of flat digital photo frames. Because the owner chooses what runs on it — family photos, game clips, a clock and weather combo — it ends up feeling personal instead of generic. That makes it an easy tech gift.

Specifications

Size: 3.5 × 3.1 × 3.8 cm (1.4 × 1.2 × 1.5 in)
Screen: 1.3 in TFT IPS, 240×240
Prism: K9L crystal, 25.4 × 25.4 × 25.4 mm
Body: ABS base, transparent acrylic shell
WiFi: 2.4GHz only
Modes: time, date, weather, indoor temperature, custom images and GIFs
File support: GIF, JPG, PNG up to 240×240px
Power: USB, 5V DC at 1A minimum
Storage: about 1MB for custom files
Lives on: desks, shelves, nightstands, gaming setups, office corners

If Something Acts Up

Flickering screen: nearly always weak power. Swap the USB cable or use a 5V/1A adapter.
Won't connect: make sure you are on a 2.4GHz network — 5GHz and WiFi 6 can cause trouble.
Factory reset: plug in, wait for the progress bar, unplug. Do this twice. On the third power-up the GIFTV hotspot broadcasts again.

The 3D effect is better than I expected from something this small. Very happy with it.

The effect is neat but it works best in a darker room. In daylight it washes out quite a bit. Setup was easy at least.

Really cool desk piece. Mine cycles through the weather and a couple of animations and it always gets comments.

Looks brilliant and the app was simple enough to figure out. It is smaller than I pictured, so worth checking the dimensions first.

Set it up on my desk in about five minutes and had my own gifs playing inside it. Looks incredible in a dim room.

Such a fun little thing. The pixel art animations genuinely look three dimensional.

Fantastic little gadget!! The display is sharp, and the appearance of this prism is really cool!!! :) It's relatively easy to connect to the network, and the settings are also clear. I would like a bigger one like this, and maybe one that can be projected onto the ceiling with a projector!! :)
