A Small Japanese House in the Trees

The Forest Habitat is a miniature two-story home you assemble yourself, piece by piece, in the style of traditional Japanese architecture. Sliding doors, lattice screens, a garden with a pond — the whole scene comes together over a few evenings at the table, then lights up and moves to a shelf.

Inside the House

Downstairs holds the living and dining area, furnished down to the small decor pieces. Upstairs is the bedroom. The joinery details are what sell it: working sliding doors, fine lattice work, and Asian-inspired decorations throughout both floors.

Outside the House

The build does not stop at the walls. A garden wraps around the structure with a small pond, winding paths, and a red maple tree as the focal point. A furnished patio adds an outdoor seating corner and a dining set, so the scene reads as lived-in rather than empty.

Then the Lights Come On

Pre-wired LEDs run through the interior and the garden. Switch them on and the finished house glows warm — the moment most builders wait for.

The Build
