A Solar System That Moves on Your Desk

Build this orrery block by block, flip the switch, and the planets start to circle a sun that glows from within. It is part construction project, part kinetic sculpture — a working model of orbital motion you can keep on a desk or shelf.

Motion, Not Just a Model

An exposed gear train drives the planets in smooth, continuous orbits. Inner planets like Mercury sweep around quickly; outer ones like Neptune take the slow lane. Seeing the different orbital speeds side by side is the whole point — it turns an abstract idea into something you can watch.

There are two ways to run it. Electric mode keeps the planets turning on their own, quiet background motion while you work. Manual mode puts a hand crank in your control, handy when you want to walk someone through how orbits work at your own pace.

Materials and Finish

The kit mixes premium ABS bricks with roll-blasted metal parts in a gold finish — gears, arms, and accents that catch the light. The transmission stays visible on purpose; the mechanism is part of the look. The base carries retro pad-printed celestial artwork in the style of old observatory instruments.

HD stickers give each planet its signature details, from Jupiter's cloud bands to Saturn's rings. Earth comes with its Moon, and small spacecraft and satellite pieces are scattered through the build. The sun is translucent, so the LED inside lights the whole model from the center — subtle by day, striking after dark.
