Four boards, four trade-offs

The comparison covers four tabletop boards we sell, rather than a market-wide ranking. It uses model-specific supplier specifications and diagrams, checked October 2, 2026. We have not physically tested these boards; the examples below are dimensional calculations, not hands-on results.

Tilting Rotating Puzzle Board — 2000-Piece, 4 Drawers
01Tilt + rotation

Tilting Rotating Puzzle Board — 2000-Piece, 4 Drawers

The rotating base brings a different edge toward you, while three tilt positions change the working angle. Four lockable sorting drawers keep groups separate, and a cover protects the surface between sessions. Choose it when rotation and adjustable tilt matter to your setup. Confirm the usable work area against your puzzle’s finished dimensions before ordering; its base diameter is not the puzzle surface.

Best suited to: builders who want to rotate the work and choose among three tilt settings. Check before choosing: its usable work area and stored footprint are not verified here, so the 2,000-piece label cannot confirm puzzle fit.

Puzzle Board 2000 Pieces with 6 Drawers
02Larger verified surface

Puzzle Board 2000 Pieces with 6 Drawers

The folding 2000-piece board provides a 104 × 78 cm (40.94 × 30.71 in) felt work surface and six removable sorting trays. Its folding panels support the work at an angle, then fold over it when you pause. Choose it for its generous work area and folding cover; choose a rotating model if turning the board is your priority. Check your puzzle’s finished dimensions against the work area before ordering.

Best suited to: builders who need a confirmed larger work surface and six separate sorting trays. Trade-off: no rotating base is specified; the folded dimensions still need confirming for a shelf or under-bed space.

Rotating Puzzle Board with Drawers 1500 Piece
03Two divided drawers

Rotating Puzzle Board with Drawers 1500 Piece

The rotating and tilting 1500-piece model has two divided drawers with four sorting compartments, a translucent cover and a carry handle. Its 89 × 65 cm measurement describes the outside of the board, not a verified usable work area. Check the finished puzzle size and allow room to open the drawers before choosing it for a smaller table.

Best suited to: builders who want tilt and rotation and are happy to sort into four compartments within two drawers. Trade-off: it does not provide four independently removable trays; 89 × 65 cm is the outer frame, so usable puzzle fit remains unverified.

Puzzle Board with Drawers 1500 Piece
04Smaller verified surface

Puzzle Board with Drawers 1500 Piece

This adjustable 1500-piece board provides a 77 × 52 cm usable work surface, six drawers and a folding cover. It suits puzzles whose finished width and height fit within that area. Measure your table and flat storage space as well as the puzzle before ordering.

Best suited to: puzzles that fit the 77 × 52 cm surface when you want tilt and six drawers. Trade-off: no rotating base is specified, and a close-fitting puzzle leaves little room for loose pieces on the surface.

Compare the practical differences

Usable work area is the space for the assembled puzzle. A drawer is a separate sliding unit; dividing one drawer creates more compartments, not more drawers.

Supplier-listed specifications for the four boards above
Board Usable work area Sorting and movement Cover and storage check
Tilting / rotating 2000 Not yet verified 4 lockable drawers; 360° rotation; 15°, 20° and 30° tilt Translucent cover. Confirm stored dimensions.
Folding 2000 104 × 78 cm
(40.94 × 30.71 in)
6 removable trays; angled support from folding panels; no rotation specified Folding panels cover the work. Confirm folded dimensions.
Rotating / tilting 1500 Not yet verified 2 divided drawers / 4 compartments; 360° rotation; adjustable tilt Translucent acrylic cover. 89 × 65 × 4 cm is the outer frame, not usable area or total storage clearance.
Adjustable 1500 77 × 52 cm
(about 30.3 × 20.5 in)
6 drawers; adjustable tilt; no rotation specified Folding cover. Listed closed body: 77 × 53.6 × 4.2 cm; check handle and storage clearance.

Need its own support instead of a tabletop board? Compare the low puzzle table with folding legs. Its listed open height is 16 in (about 41 cm); check your seating and floor space. It is a separate format, not a fifth tabletop-board ranking.

Before choosing rotation, use our turning-clearance guide to check the moving outline and separate space from support.

A worked fit-and-storage worksheet

Example, not a product test: suppose your puzzle is 70 × 50 cm and you can store a board flat in an 85 × 60 × 6 cm space. The adjustable 1500 board is a candidate:

  • Puzzle fit: 77 − 70 = 7 cm and 52 − 50 = 2 cm of total spare work area. Centered, that is 3.5 cm at either end and just 1 cm along each long side. Use the drawers for loose pieces.
  • Closed-body check: 85 − 77 = 8 cm, 60 − 53.6 = 6.4 cm and 6 − 4.2 = 1.8 cm of total nominal clearance. Measure handles, the storage opening and the route to it before relying on those margins.
  • Decision: the listed dimensions fit this example, but safe handling and storage still depend on the actual model's instructions. Keep an unfinished puzzle level unless those instructions explicitly support and explain another secured position.

For your own shortlist, fill in: finished puzzle ___ × ___; usable surface ___ × ___; closed board ___ × ___ × ___; clear storage space ___ × ___ × ___. Use one unit throughout. If a required board measurement is missing, confirm it before ordering. Our puzzle-board size guide explains the full measurement process; the drawer checklist helps compare your sorting routine.

FAQ

Do I really need a puzzle board with drawers, or is a flat board enough?

Drawers help keep sorted groups beside the work area; separate trays or lidded containers can do that job too. A rigid board can make it easier to move a project, but a felt surface or cover does not guarantee that pieces will stay in place. Keep the board level when moving or storing it unless the model’s instructions explicitly support another position and explain how to secure the puzzle. See our in-progress storage checklist.

What's the difference between a tilting and a rotating puzzle board?

Rotation turns a different edge toward you; tilt changes the angle of the work surface. The Rotating Puzzle Board 1500 and Tilting Rotating Puzzle Board 2000 combine those movements. The folding six-tray board also supports angled use through its folding panels. Choose the mechanism that fits your seat, table space and preferred way of working.

What size board should I get — 1500 or 2000 pieces?

Start with the finished width and height printed on your puzzle box. The 1500-piece board has a 77 × 52 cm usable work area, while the folding 2000-piece board provides 104 × 78 cm. For example, an 80 × 60 cm puzzle will not fit the smaller surface but fits within the larger one. Piece count alone is not a fit guarantee, and outer-frame or base dimensions are not the work area. See our puzzle-board size comparison for the measurement checklist.
